February 10, 2025
Valentine’s Day is a special time for children to express their love and appreciation for family and friends. Engaging in hands-on crafts helps kids develop creativity, fine motor skills, and a sense of accomplishment. At Prescolaire Early Learning Academy, we encourage hands-on learning through fun, interactive activities. These simple DIY Valentine’s Day crafts are perfect for little learners to create heartfelt gifts while developing essential skills.
Handprint Heart Cards
A handmade card is a timeless way for children to share their love. This craft is easy, personal, and a keepsake that parents and loved ones will cherish.
What You’ll Need:
- Red, pink, and white construction paper
- Washable paint (red or pink)
- Paintbrush
- Glue stick
- Markers or crayons
Instructions:
Make the Handprint Heart – Help your child paint their hands with red or pink washable paint. Press both hands onto a sheet of white paper, positioning them so that the thumbs and index fingers form a heart shape. Let it dry.
Create the Card – Fold a piece of construction paper in half to make a card.
Decorate – Cut out the dried handprint heart and glue it onto the front of the card. Encourage your child to add decorations using markers, stickers, or glitter.
Write a Sweet Message – Inside the card, help your child write a heartfelt message, such as “I love you to pieces!” or “You are loved!”
