Halloween Experiments for Kids
Halloween is a time for fun, costumes, and candy, but did you know it can also be a great opportunity to explore science? These spooky science experiments are perfect for kids of all ages and will make Halloween even more exciting!
Ghost Slime
Materials: Clear glue, baking soda, contact lens solution, food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix the clear glue and baking soda.
Slowly add the contact lens solution until the slime forms.
Add food coloring for a ghostly white or green hue.
Stretch and play with your ghostly slime!
Witch's Brew
Materials: Clear liquid (like water or apple juice), food coloring, dry ice, a large bowl
Instructions:
Fill a large bowl with the clear liquid.
Add food coloring to create a spooky green or purple potion.
Carefully add dry ice to the liquid. The dry ice will create a fog-like effect, making your potion look like a bubbling witch's brew.
Floating Apples
Materials: Apples, salt, water, a tall glass
Instructions:
Fill a tall glass with water.
Place an apple in the water. It should sink.
Slowly add salt to the water. The apple will start to float!
Edible Candy Corn
Materials: Sugar, corn syrup, water, food coloring (yellow, orange, and white)
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat until the mixture reaches a hard-ball stage.
Pour the mixture onto a greased baking sheet.
While the mixture is still hot, add food coloring in the desired order (yellow, orange, white).
Let the candy cool and harden, then break it into pieces.
